Group Membership Property Page

The Group Membership Property Page is displayed along with similar pages for other entries every time you execute the Properties command from either the Standard toolbar, or from a context menu for the entry node or the profile node. The main purpose of this page is to offer an in-place viewer for entry membership properties.

View and Edit Membership Properties

If an entry is recognized as a member, the groups it belongs to are listed under the Member of title, each represented by an icon associated with the group, group name and group DN.

To add the member to a group, click Add, select one or more groups, and click OK.

To remove the member from a group, select the group from which you want to remove the object and click Remove.

The Actions button contains several operations, that are available for this member:

  • Import Groups - to add the selected member to other groups from a file.

  • Export Groups - to export to a file all the groups the selected member belongs to.

  • Stop - to stop fetching groups.

  • Refresh - to refresh list of groups this member belongs to.

  • Configure Settings - to show Group and Member Settings dialog.

Having selected a group, you can right-click on it and then execute one of the following context menu commands:

  • Remove - to remove member from the selected group.

  • Locate in Tree - to locate the selected group in the Scope Pane.

  • Copy - copies the selected group name to the clipboard.

  • Copy DN - copies the selected group DN to the clipboard.

  • Object Class Setting - launches the Group Objects Class Registration Setting editor.

  • Properties - displays a property page for the selected group.

View and Edit Group Members

If an entry is recognized as a group, its members are listed under the Members title, each represented by an icon associated with the member, member name and member DN.

To add members to the group, click Add, select one or more members you want to add, and click OK.

To remove members from the group, select one or more members you want to remove, and click Remove.

The Actions button contains several operations, that are available for this group:

  • Modify Dynamic Membership - to specify search criteria for evaluating dynamic membership to the group (only for dynamic groups).

  • Add Static Member - to add static members to the dynamic group (only for dynamic groups).

  • Remove Static Member - to remove static members from the dynamic group (only for dynamic groups).

  • Import Members - to add members from a file to the group.

  • Export Members - to export all the group members to a file.

  • Stop - to stop fetching members.

  • Refresh - to refresh list of group members.

  • Configure Settings - to show Group and Member Settings dialog.

Having selected a member from the list, you can right-click on it and then execute the following context menu commands:

  • Remove - to remove the selected member from the group.

  • Locate in Tree - to locate the selected member in the Scope Pane.

  • Reset Password - resets password for the selected member.

  • Copy - copies the selected member name to the clipboard.

  • Copy DN - copies the selected group DN to the clipboard.

  • Object Class Setting - launches the Objects Class Registration Setting editor for the selected member.

  • Properties - displays a property page for the selected member.

Registering New Object Class as Group or Member

If an entry you've opened properties for does not contain any object classes already registered as one of an existing group or member, you'll have an option to declare any of those unknown object classes either a new group or a new member.

To register an entry's object class as a dynamic group, click Register as Dynamic Group. To register an entry's object class as a static group, click Register as Group. To declare a member, click Register as Member. To edit Group and Member settings, click the Configure Setting link.
