Softerra LDAP Administrator Help | Show AllHide All |
LDAP Administrator provides features for creating two different kinds of application directory partitions.
On Active Directory servers, an application directory partition is represented by the 'domainDNS' object class and named like a regular domain partition, for example, "DC=dynamicdata,DC=company,DC=com".
On ADAM servers, it is represented by the 'container' object class and named similarly to a common directory partition, for exapmle, "CN=dynamicdata,CN=company,CN=com".
It is possible to nest application directory partitions. An application directory partition can have child application directory partitions. All directory partitions will be displayed as naming contexts.
After an application directory partition is created, KCC creates a replica on the domain controller that was bound to at creation time. Additional replica can be added with the help of LDAP Administrator (Managing Application Partition Replication). |
To create an application directory partition:
Connect to an Active Directory server.
Click Manage Application Partitions on the Active Directory toolbar.
Click the Create Partition button.
Enter a partition name in the Partition name box and type a partition description in the Partition description box.
Click OK to create the partition.
