Using SSL connections in the conventional way, usually by connecting to port 636, establishes a connection that stays encrypted for all of its life-time. LDAP server can support secure connections on ports different from 636 and can even be configured to accept both secure and nonsecure connections on the same port.
To enable secure connection (SSL) for the session life-time, do one of the following:
Enable SSL connection during server profile creation with checking the Use secure connection (SSL) box.
For an existing server profile open its properties and check the Use secure connection (SSL) box on the Profile property page.
While an SSL connection is being established, a client certificate and/or a server certificate may be required for successful negotiation. Learn more about certificates exchange during SSL negotiation. |
