Softerra LDAP Administrator Help | Show AllHide All |
LDAP Administrator reports gather LDAP information from an LDAP server and present it to you in a more clear and concise manner. The reports can be accessed by selecting the Reports menu from the menu bar. For ease of use, all reports are grouped by logical categories displayed under the Reports menu. Click on a group to see all the reports that belong to this group.
Each report can be assigned to several groups. See <tag> element to learn more on how reports are assigned to groups. |
To open a report dialog:
Select server, where you want to run a report.
In the Report menu, select the report you'd like to launch. A report dialog will be opened.
In the opened report dialog, you can specify several parameters referred to the report.
Search from: A starting point to generate the report for the LDAP directory you have connected to. You can edit this field manually or open the drop-down history list to choose a DN from the list of previously used DNs. To specify a DN, you can also use the Browse for Search DN dialog by clicking the Browse button inside the edit box.
Handle referrals: Check this box if you want to search inside encountered referrals and search references.
Parameters: Reports may have editable parameters, that have to be set before generating the report. For example, for the Recently Created Users report that provides information about the user accounts created during the last N days. Before executing such a report you need to specify or adjust the 'N days' parameter.
Each column of a report list view corresponds to an LDAP attribute of entries found. If you want to display more attributes, you can add more attribute columns. To do so, right-click on the header of the list view and and click More... in the Show Columns sub-menu. In the opened dialog you can add or remove attribute columns. You can also re-order columns in the list view by dragging and dropping column headers.
To generate a report, click the Generate button. The whole process may take some time, but you can press the Stop button to abort the report generation at any moment.
The report generation can be launched automatically after the report dialog is opened. See <report> element to learn more about auto running the reports. |
After the report generation is completed, you can work with your search results in the same way as you work with elements in the List View pane.
To perform operations on the report results (rename, delete, modify, export, etc.):
Select entries you would like to perform an operation on.
Open the context menu and choose the appropriate item.
To locate the entry from the report in the Scope Pane:
Select the entry you'd like to locate.
Click the Locate in Tree button in the entry's context menu or double-click it.
To filter report results:
Open the list view context menu by pressing the right mouse button in the header area of the list column.
Choose the Filter bar item.
Type the criteria you would like to apply to the report results.
To add report results to the Basket:
Select entries you'd like to add.
Click the Add to Basket button in the entry's context menu or use Ctrl+B shortcut.
LDAP Administrator allows you to save generated report data in different file formats such as LDIF, DSML, HTML, MS Excel, CSV and plain text. To save generated report data, press the Save Search Results button and go through the Exporting Directory Data wizard steps. You can also select entries from the report list view and then run Export Data from the list view context menu. Unlike the Save Search Results operation that exports all the entries found, the Export Data operation allows you to export a part of the report results.
